History of India
India is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is the land of unparalleled natural beauty. The visitors can explore majestic deserts, historical forts, High Peak Mountains fully covered in snow and beautiful hills and sun-kissed beaches. India is famous not only for its natural beauty but also for its great history and culture. The capital of India is New Delhi and it is also one of the largest states in India in terms of population.
The history of India has mixed up with several cultures like the Invaders from the West and then the English culture via the Britishers. Before British rule, the country was ruled by the several invaders and dominated the northern part of India. On 15, August 1947, India gained its independence from the British Rule. Since then, 15 August is celebrated in India as the Independence Day to honor its freedom from the British Government. On 15 August 1947, the British Government handed the country to its Indian political leaders. It was the historic date in the Indian History and India’s Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru revealed the new flag of the nation on the Red fort.
India has also a lot of ecological diversity. The southern and the central regions are mainly blessed with the sub-tropical and tropical forests, the northern and eastern regions have the great Himalayas. India has the world’s second-largest population after China and one of the top and fastest-growing economies in the world. It is the seventh-largest country by area and one of the most populous democracies in the world. India shares its land borders with China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. In the year 2001-2011, its population raised by 17% compared to 21% growth in the last decade (1991-2001). According to the 2011 report, the human sex ratio is 950 females per 1000 males. It is also the seventh-largest country in the world, with a wide area of 3,287,263 square kilometers. India measures 2,933 km from east to west and 3,214 from north to south. It has a coastline of 7,516 km and land frontier of 15,200 km.
States
India is notable for its great religious diversity, with Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Christianity, and Sikhism. As a secular country, India gives equal right to the citizens of India to follow their religion. There are total of 29 states and 7 union territories in India for a total 36 entities. The union territories and states are subdivided into smaller administrative divisions and districts. The union territories are controlled by the Indian central government and states have their own state government.
The Indian states are namely, Gujarat Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh,, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. Kerala is the highly literate state in India and Bihar is the least literate. Tamil Nadu and Goa are considered highly urbanized in India. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Delhi, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry are the Union territories of India.
Considering the literacy rate, Kerala is the most literate state and Bihar is the least literate. Goa and Tamil Nadu are considered the most urbanized states in India. Sikkim is one of the cleanest cities of India recognized by the Government of India.
Famous Place
There are many famous monuments in India like Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Red Fort, India Gate, and Charminar. Taj Mahal is one of the most famous monuments of India and also considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. UNESCO has also approved several other tourist attractions in their world heritage sites list. It includes the Kalka-Shimla Railway and Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The journey in these two trains through the Himalayas is really breathtaking and History of India is incomplete without them.
Also, the beauty and richness of India are showcased in everything and attracts millions of visitors all around the world. Definitely the palaces, rivers, vast desert, mountains, forts are captivating but astounding legends of bustling towns, heroism and fashion trends also have a lasting impact on anyone who visits India. The perfect places like Shimla, Goa, Manali, Mount Abu, and Kashmir are considered to be heaven on earth because of its great beauty which holds an attractive power.
